System Restore app crashes

Recently my System Restore stopped working. The app "rstrui.exe" fails. (XP
Pro)

Here is the event log entry:
Faulting application rstrui.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module
srrstr.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00009826.

I've tried safe mode, disabling all tasks and all but the bare minimum
processes.
All with the same results. I can't isolate a software installation or
Windows Update that I can associate with the beginning of the problem... I've
done both of those things multiple times recently.

Also, if it is significant, I've recently added a physical drive and
repartitioned all of the drives (NTFS, btw) using Partition Magic ver. 8.01
(Build 1274) and defragmented using Raxco PerfectDisk ver. 7.0 (Build 46).

Virus and malware scans are negative using various apps for both.

What more info do you need? I can include the appcompat file from a crash,
or any of the data that normally would be transmitted in an automated error
report, anything you wish.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you most kindly. The answer was indeed in those pages. Re-installing
System Restore did the trick, with instructions from Mr. Kinney. Thank you
again, I have come to rely on System Restore to help with management tasks,
and I feel much safer knowing that it is working again.
