System Restore Doesn't open

I have XP Home SP2, every time I try to open System Restore I get the
following error message:

AppName: rstrui.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.2180 ModName: srrstr.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00009826

I've tried in Safe Mode, same results. I receive the same error message if I
try to run System Restore from the System Tab, Performance Tab. I've confirm
in Computer Management that System Restore is running.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

You can try to re-install System restore.

Double-click the sr.inf file located in

c:\windows\inf

Hi,

How to reinstall System Restore?

Warning: This will delete ALL existing restore points.

Note: The following file is located in a hidden folder. To view hidden
files follow these steps:

Open Control Panel - Folder Options - View tab, select "Show hidden
files and folders" and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types",
click OK.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the windows\inf folder.

Find the sr.inf file, right click on it and select Install.

I messed up, sorry...should have read "right-click and select install" on
the sr.inf file located in the c:\windows\inf folder. (assuming if windows
was installed to c:\windows).
