I have tried to set my system restore dates; but the window opens and is
blank (white). No icons or information. System is XP. This is what I have
done already:
1. Full K scan.
2. Full malwarebytes scan
3. Full Spybot scan.
All clean
4. Installed service pack 3
5. Disk error with auto repair.
6. Disk cleanup
7. Removed unused programs.

C= 201.70 GB
D= 368MB

The error message is: "System restore application has encountered a problem
and needs to close..."
The error= C\DOCUME~1\COMPAQ~1.YOU\LOCALS~1\Temp\9933_appcompat.txt (when I
load through admin)
The error= C\DOCUME~1\COMPAQ~1.YOU\LOCALS~1\Temp\e508_appcompat.txt (when I
load through accessories)

That txt file is usually an error file generated when a third party
application crashes.
Open it in wordpad to see what it references
You might also run the system file checker
Its also possible that the file is being generated by virus or malaware, it
sometimes helps to run scans whilst in safe mode

Did a file search and found nothing on these. Where is 'system file checker'?

Can't find the files; bu the error is still there and the numbers change for
the error.

Did a safe mode scan and found nothing. also did a :run-cmd-sfc-sfc \scannow
and it came out with no errors.

Any suggestions?

The files are in your temp folder, which is a hidden file

There are no files in the folder. Nothing is hidden. I unchecked the hide
files.
C:\Documents and Settings\COMPAQ~1~YOU\LOCALS~1\Temp

C\DOCUME~1\COMPAQ~1.YOU\LOCALS~1\Temp\9933_appcompat.txt

Is the path you posted, first, not
C:\Documents and Settings\COMPAQ~1~YOU\LOCALS~1\Temp
