Media Center Receiver Error

V

vince

While trying to restore my MCE 2005 Comp from a complete Ssytem Recovery and
working on the Doc and Settings saved groups, I received this error message
that couldn't be removed from the screen even after transmitting the error
report to MS.
C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERd884.dir00\ehRecvr.exe.mdmp
What can I do to remove it and complete the Recovery Process?
Thanks for your help.

Is there an error signature?

Have a look in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for
Errors and Warnings and post copies here. Don't post any more than 48
hours ago.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Right click on the Report in the
list and select Properties. In the window, which appears are three buttons
towards the top right of the window. The top one has an arrow up, underneath
is an arrow down and third is a button resembling two pages. Click the
button and close Event Viewer. It is not obvious but this action places a
copy of the report in your Clipboard. Now start your message (email) and do
a paste into the body of the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Gerry:

Thanks for your input.
I couldn't do it that way because the event viewer didn't open and post that
way.
However a did get the Error Signature:

szAppName : ehRecvr.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2710.2732
szModName : IndivBox.key szModVer : 11.0.6000.6324 offset : 0010a747

Appreciate your help.

ehRecvr.exe is the Windows Media Receiver Service . It is a Microsoft
file. Most reports relate to Vista not Windows XP. Do you have a TV Tuner
card? Did or does it work?

Are you up to date in terms of the Windows Update service? Your version of
ehRecvr.exe may not be the latest version.

Regarding your problem with Event Viewer this link may help.

Gerry:
Yes, before I did the System Recovery my tuner card worked fine. Since I'm
in limbo now, I'm not in any position to think of using it.
HP did have an idea about turning the service to Auto from Manual before I
do the Recovery again.
In the meantime, have you ever had any experience with an "inuse" file in
Docs and Setting in the Application History Folder called
CLi.exe.c88dbd71.ini.INUSE?

The link you gave cleared up the Event Viewer issue and I'm going to analyze
that next.
Thanks again

Vince
