System recovery deleting files

Using Windows XP
Have completed a standard system recovery but had to rename Windows Software
Distribution file. My question is: is it possible to delete the contents of
the old file to aquire more disk space?

if you want more disc space make a retore disc and shut off the recovery
sys restore takes alot of space.,
it helps to have a seperate drive, and copy contents form c: to d: or whatever
and just shut down restore

i turn of system restore every few days and then make a new restore point.
Forget my remark regarding disk space. Want to know if i can delete the
content of the
Window's Old Softfware Distribution File. Is there any reason to keep this
files as there were new one installed with recovery i performed.

It is possible to delete all but the most recent System Restore file using
Disk Cleanup. START> ACCESSORIES> SYSTEM TOOLS>.

You can also 'restrict' the amount of disk space used by System Restore.

The Software Distribution folder shouldn't be more than a few Megs so why
bother attempting to grab back this tiny amount of space when hundreds of Mbs
can be acquired from the System restore Files.

Also if space is a concern, Limit the amount of space used by the Internet
Cache: temporary internet files.

Everything both of you have told me i already know and implement. Why won't
you answer my question? What if this was a very large file, can i delete the
files in an old file when a new file exists..,forget the size of the old
file.
You state i can obtain 100's of Mbs by deleting system restore point, I
already do this and do disk cleaner also delete temporary files.
You both have made more out of my question and caused unneeded posting.
Thought this was a simple question and would receive a simple answer.
Hopefully this will be my 1st and last posting to this site.
