System re-starts while transferring files via USB

I'm at a complete loss and would appreciate anyone's help on this.

Whenever I try and transfer a decent amount of data via a USB port to one of
my USB devices, after transferring a bit, the system will reboot itself with
no warning. It doesn't matter which USB port I use (there are 6 on my
system, and a USB hub with 4 more connected to one of them) or which USB
device (I've tried 2 different USB external hard drives, my newly acquired
iPod, or even my 1GB USB pen drive). I have turned off the auto-reboot
feature under the Advanced tab in the computer properties, yet the system
still goes straight to a reboot with no error messages shown.

The amount of data necessary to cause a reboot can be as little as around
100MB, to as much as a couple of GB's.

I'm running XP with Service Pack 2, on a KN1 Lite mother board, with 2GB
RAM. I am up to date on all XP patches, and all drivers and firmware for my
motherboard.

Again, any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

You are presumably blue-screening, and you are set to reboot whenever that
happens. Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties. On the Advanced
tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery. Under System failure,
uncheck the box "Automatically restart.

Now when the problem occurs again, instead of restarting, you will get the
blue screen with diagnostic information. Post back with those details for
more help.

Ken,

I have already done this. The system does not show a blue screen. It gives
no error message. It simply reboots.
