System process using all cpu and Macs not able to connect.

Marc Dufour

Every morning around 9, the system process starts using
all the CPU it can and some Macintosh will freeze if they
try to access a particular volume. If we let it go, the
process will do that for 1.5 - 2 hours. The problem
started when we added new disks and went from a basic
disk to a dynamic one to grow the volume.

If we stop the macfile service, the problem will also
vanish. But sometimes, the service hangs and we have to
restart the server.

We tried to recreate the volume with no success.

Besides switching to Linux, any ideas on how to correct
the problem ?

Thanks !

Hi Marc!

Do your Event Logs show anything occurring during that time such as a backup
process or a replication process?
