SYSTEM process problem

I have a windows xp with sp2. Lately SYSTEM process is using 90% of CPU,
it use to happen once in a day, but lately its more frecuent and i can't do
almost anything. Can anybode tell why is this happening???. I scanned for
viruses and didn't find anyone.

try disabling the indexing service to see if that is the cause
