System Idle Process Problem??

On task manager, the system idle process percentage keeps going to around 99
percent, how do I get it back down? The last problem I remember having was
that I was editing a movie and the program froze and thats it; how do I get
the percentage down to normal?? Thanks

It *is* normal, and is not any problem at all. "System Idle Process"
is just the name for what the system is doing when it's not doing
anything. It's there to make the total add up to 100%

So its nothing to worry about right?
Yes. Your question is yet another version of "How do I get the System Idle
Process to quit
hogging my system?"
Your other problem can have quite a few causes:.
1. Excessive paging (possibly instigated by another process)
2. I/O bottleneck somewhere (probably related to number 1)
3. Program not quite correctly written or tested. This alas happens
quite frequently.

I am just listing some easy causes.

maybe they should rename it.......System not doing anything process
since people dont seem to understand what "idle" means.

It would make more sense to just not list it in the program list.
Frankly, I don't care if it adds up to 100% as I just look at what
processes are doing what & when they are doing it.

Yes, but then people would complain that adding the percentages for each
process does not result in 100%.
