System fails to boot after receiving lsass.exe system error messag

Currently when I powerup my laptop I receive an error message just as my
desktop background is displayed. The title banner of the error message
states:

lsass.exe - System Error

And just below that with a red "x" icon next to it, the following message is
displayed:

Object name not found

Currently I have tried booting in safe mode, with command promt, and al of
the other boot options presented during advancede startup. Any adivce/help
that can be provided to fix this error would be greatly appreciated.

My system specs are as follows:
Compaq Presario 2500 Series Laptop
Windows XP Pro SP2
2.4 GHz P4
1 Gig RAM

Go to symantec.com and search for lsass.exe. It'll tellyou what
you need to know and what file you need to download to get it
going again. That's a nasty one so you need the process
information I'm trying to point you to.
If no luck, come back; someone will look up and give you a URL
for the info you need.
