Hi All,

When my system crashes (more and more often) I get the following message
in the "blue screen".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** STOP:0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBFA18A2E, 0xF1E7C4EC, 0x00000000)
***nv4_disp.dll - address BFA18A2E base at BF9E6000, Datestamp 3fb91f9b
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Previously I've got messages that suggest that there is a problem with the
graphics driver for NVIDIA Ge Force Fx 5200. I have updated the driver, but
that
did not help.

Thanks for any hints,
Martti :-)

Updated the driver? from where?
The stop err would appear to be a nvidea driver problem

Then you need to uninstall the nvidea display drivers and perhaps use this
tool to clear any old nvidea drivers
http://www.drivercleaner.net/ prior to reinstalling nvidea driver.

Also ensure your vid card is firmly seated

Hi DL,

I updated the driver from Nvidia site.

When installing the update, did you install over the old driver?
If so that may be where the problem is coming from. Also
look for any resource conflicts such as i/o settings in the
hardware manager. Bring up th properties page for the
graphics chip/card by double-clicking on it's entry (expand
the tree list). Look at the resources section. Any conflicts
are noted at the bottom.
