System Configuration Utility Choices

A couple of weeks ago, to troubleshoot a problem I was having in Outlook,
someone on the Outlook forum told me to uncheck everything on the startup
tab under msconfig that was checked. Unfortunately, now that I'm ready (I
think) to set it back, I forgot what was checked, although I think all boxes
were checked. The computer seems none the worse for wear with only the one
box 'ctfmon' checked (it seemed to recheck itself), but I am getting sick of
the system config utility pop up each time I reboot! So, I'd like to set
this back to a desired state

Is it OK to leave everything (except Ctfmon) unchecked, since all seems well
as is? Or should I just recheck all the boxes there? Or should/can I use
system restore to get back to exactly where it was? It seems that Outlook
is better now, though I am not sure of that.

Kindly advise.

Thanks!

If you don't like this pop-up panel then I recommend that you
read its text. It explains what to do to prevent further pop-ups!

If things work well then you can leave the boxes unticked, provided
that your virus scanner and perhaps your firewall is still ticked.
Alternatively you can use System Restore to return Windows to
its previous state. An yes, it's a good idea to keep a record of the
things you change.
