System Assessment Tool Progress Dialog missing

After a hardware upgrade, I went to the Windows System Assessment Tool to see
if the new hardware made a difference in my Windows Experience Index. I
clicked on "Update my score" and the screen flashed for a second, then -
nothing. I checked the Task Manager and sat that WinSAT.exe was running,
using about 50% of available CPU resources. I determined after a while that
the application was working, since a refresh of the WEI window showed that
the last update had occurred. The problem is that the dialog box that showed
the progress of the update is missing. Has anyone else encountered this
problem and discovered a solution? Thanks!

I have the exact same issue after updating my driver, HOWEVER, the issue did
not spring up right away. So, I don't think that's the issue, but I can't
find a solution. Anyone?

I ran it again and noticed that the display setting changes to Windows Vista
basic theme from Aero while WinSat is running and then changes back to Aero
once done.

The WEI rating has not changed and everything else seems fine, including the
WEI report.

I got the dialogue back, I had modified the indexing option for searches. I
went back and added the following under Local Disk; MSOCache, Program Files,
Users. Now WEI works fine.

Procedure:
Control Panel > Indexing Option> Modify > In locations window place check on
Local Disk (note: you can unckeck all the sub-floders except the ones
mentioned above if you wish)
