sys sound error

I have a sound problem none of my XP Home system sounds will not work, I have
checked all of my settings all the way into my divice manager with no errors
of any kind, the only thing that i have found is in my control panel.
In my sound and audio devices under each tab.
in my audio tab at the bottum ( MIDI music playback ) Default device: the
drop down menu it is blank when i open it to get the default (microsoft GS
Wavetable SW Synth) then i apply it,then i goto the sounds tab and the (sound
scheme) is windows default at the bottum (program events) under the windows
event none of the sounds will play with the play button but all sounds are
there and in ther dir,s then i goto my voice tab (voice playback) default
devices it is blank to but when i drop the menu down my default driver is
there (Avance AC97 Audio) then i apply it to.then i checked my hardware tab
it has all my drivers and all of the (device properties) for each driver say
Devices Status : This device is working properly , but when i close my sound
and audio properties then control panel my sounds will not work i open
control panel / sound and audio devices properties my program events are the
same and the MIDI music playback is blank and voice playback is blank.
Under control panel / system i goto my hardware tab / Devices Manager no
problem of any kind .and i have to restore my system with no luck.

To Kelly : with all due respect i did that first, i even deleted my drivers
and reinstaled them the only thing only thing i have not done is re install
my hard drive.

I have a sound problem none of my XP Home system sounds will not work, I
have
checked all of my settings all the way into my divice manager with no
errors
of any kind, the only thing that i have found is in my control panel.
In my sound and audio devices under each tab.
in my audio tab at the bottum ( MIDI music playback ) Default device:
the
drop down menu it is blank when i open it to get the default (microsoft
GS
Wavetable SW Synth) then i apply it,then i goto the sounds tab and the
(sound
scheme) is windows default at the bottum (program events) under the
windows
event none of the sounds will play with the play button but all sounds
are
there and in ther dir,s then i goto my voice tab (voice playback)
default
devices it is blank to but when i drop the menu down my default driver
is
there (Avance AC97 Audio) then i apply it to.then i checked my hardware
tab
it has all my drivers and all of the (device properties) for each
driver
say
Devices Status : This device is working properly , but when i close my
sound
and audio properties then control panel my sounds will not work i open
control panel / sound and audio devices properties my program events
are
the
same and the MIDI music playback is blank and voice playback is blank.
Under control panel / system i goto my hardware tab / Devices Manager
no
problem of any kind .and i have to restore my system with no luck.
