syncronize outlook to a pop3 server

I am switching laptops and want my email from my old on my new one. When I
went to my email providers mail server I discovered that when the mail was
delivered to ooutlook from the pop3 server, it was deleted on the pop3
server. I want to replicate what is on my old laptop back to the pop3 server
so my new laptop will get it. I have set outlook to save mail on the server
after it downloads it so I will be ok going forward but unfortunately this
will not move the mail that was already moved off of the server.

Thanks. Unfortunately I misspoke when I said I have set outlook to save
messages on the server going forward. I did not get Outlook installed on the
new laptop and am planning on using Windows mail. I went to the link you
directed me to and what I now need an answer to is what do I do now that the
outlook file is .pst and the windows mail file is a .pat file. Can I just
change the extention or will I not be able to use the outlook data with
windows mail?

By the way, the link Roady provided was exactly what I needed based upon
what I original provided.

What were your issues with Outlook on Vista? Which version of Outlook are
you using?

Windows Mail uses dbx-files and not pat-files. Windows Mail is the successor
of Outlook Express which also uses dbx-files. On your old computer use
Import from within Outlook Express to create dbx-files (OE and WM use a
dbx-file per folder) of the contents within your pst-file. You can then
transfer these dbx-files to your new computer and configure WM with them.

Roady,

You have solved my issue. Thanks a lot. I get the gold star from my wife.

I have not had any problems with Outlook on Vista. I am just too cheap to
buy it. As I got this resolved I just realized that I may be able to use the
copy of Outlook I bought for my last computer (XP). I am not sure if it
works with Vista or even if this is allowed by Microsoft so I will be
checking out both. So far I am very satisfied with Windows mail. Thanks for
all of your help.
