Synchronize hangs IE6

Many moons ago I set my home page to synchronize.

I also had the web page in my favourites and checked make available off
line.

Now when I try and download the page, synchronize kicks in and locks the
system, obviously trying to synchronize.
I am on dial up, but no matter how I try and change the settings it either
defaults to LAN, or hangs.
I can't delete my home page or the web page from synchronize.

I can open the web page no problem in Firefox.

Thanks for all the help.

I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install
