synchronize folders

How to synchronize folders (my pictures, my music, ...)
for different users?

Instead of creating multiple copies under each user's account profile, why
not create new folders for each (pictures, music, etc.) and then give all
users access to them?

or setup each individual's as a link to the main folder, as I believe XP
does by default for the sample pictures and sample music folders
