I noticed yesterday that the Hotmail servers were flaky. You didn't
specify what protocol you use to access your Hotmail account. Could be
the Outlook Connector add-on that adds Deltasync support to Outlook for
IMAP-like access to your Hotmail account. I use POP (which was added
back very recently). I got lots of connect errors to their POP server
yesterday (it wouldn't establish a mail session).
I unloaded Outlook yesterday (normally I leave it always loaded) and it
is still unloaded today so I don't know if the flaky connects got
resolved. This happens at Hotmail. They don't issue any warnings to
users when they plan to make changes or do maintenance nor do they have
or maintain a web page regarding status of their mail servers. You just
have to wait hours or days until they get around to fixing their
problem.
