Outlook 2003 horrendous synch speeds on Hotmail headers

The subject says it all pretty much - my Outlook 2003 is really slow with
Hotmail accounts but fine on anything POP. It doesn't seem to keep a record
of what's been synched already i.e.: if I do a send/recieve on a hotmail
inbox it synchs the whole box - taking 20 mins or so - but next time I load
Outlook up they're all not synched again. When I move to a hotmail inbox it
can be 30-60 seconds saying "synchronizing message headers"

Is there a simple fix?

Upgrading to 2007 does not seem an option as many people on this forum and
others report similar issues...

All help appreciated.

Ah ha... didn't know about that - presume this is required because of the
change to "Live" from traditional Hotmail? Seems to have done the trick -
thanks very much :)

You're welcome! :)

It's not a hard requirement yet but the old way of syncing is indeed
deprecated already and pretty much can be turned off any time soon. The old
sync can hardly keep up with all the latest features and current mailbox
sizes to be of any real good use though. The Outlook Connector is really
what you want to use these days for accessing your free Live Hotmail
account.
