switching to 32 bit to 64

Where is the option in windows to switch these modes with a 64 bit OS

There is no "switch". You either install the conventional 32-bit version
of Windows XP or purchase and install the 64-bit version of Windows XP.

Isn't it true, though, that if you DO install Windows XP 64, then you may
have problems with programs not working as they should, and some not
working at all? I have TrendMicro Internet Security 2006, and when I had
a technical problem, as we were sending e-mails back and forth, to correct
the problem, I mentioned that I had just bought the 64-bit version. She told
me not to install it because of the above, and because their product would
not work, and she said, "Good Luck on finding a good anti-virus program
that WOULD work with it!" I have had it since Christmas and have never
installed it because of what she said. Is it true?

NOD32 makes an excellent antivirus program that will work on both 32-
and 64-bit systems. A good rule of thumb is check before you buy....
