64-bit ISP?

I plan to buy a 64-bit computer but I know Earthlink only works on 32-bit.
Is there ANY ISP's that use 64-bit?

If your new machine has a 64 bit cpu...
your ISP would not know the difference...I don't know who gave you that idea

Wha?!

What you are speaking of is the software you install that includes all the
branding and such for a service provider. Any service provider that
*requires* you to install this stuff is not worth it (unless they happen to
be 100% free and they pay for your usage through the advertisements they now
spam you with and you cannot afford $10/month to go elsewhere... Then -
maybe...)

In other words - Earthlink does not require you to install softweare to
connect to their provider Internet service. Don't install their software
and you can connect to their Internet just fine. Cable/DSL modems (when you
use a network cable - and you *should* use a network cable - to connect) do
not require anything be loaded on your computer specific to that cable/dsl
modem. They may require you to enter a username/password or register a MAC
Address with their service to connect - but beyond that - drop 'em if they
ask for anything else and lie to you about it being necessary.

??? Do you mean that the software they provide won't work on 32-bit?

My view is that using any software they provide is a poor idea anyway.
You should use standard software for your web browser, E-mail client,
news reader, etc.

I think you'll find you're a little confused on this issue.

Many ISPs use 64-bit OS's on their servers.

But as far as I can tell, no ISP's care what OS *you* have or how many bits
it is. They use TCP/IP, and as long as your PC's OS uses that, all is
well.

If you're referring to software an ISP provides - you generally do not
actually need any such software, except possibly for some proprietary
service offerings that again you may not really need.
