switching from Domain to Workgroup ?

I have to convert 3 PCs running XP Pro from being set up for a domain to a
workgroup. This is because the PC running NT Server is about to die, and I
don't really need a server.

The problem is that when I change each PC to a workgroup many of the
programs lose their set up data. Each PC has several fairly complicated
applications that now need to be re-installed.

This happens even if I name the workgroup with the name of the old domain.

Does anyone know a way around this? Perhaps there are some registry keys I
can change, rather than rebuilding each application. Otherwise I'm looking
at a few days of getting my apps to run again.

You have to copy the old user profile data to the new workgroup profile.
