I'm using IE 6 but I also have Netscape and would like to try it and
Firefox. How do I switch from one to another?

Tammi,

You can have as many browsers as you can. But only one will be the default.
The default browser setting can be controlled using the "Set Program Access
and Defaults" feature (XP SP1 and higher)

HOW TO: Use the Set Program Access and Defaults Feature in Windows 2000

Set Internet Explorer as the default browser in Windows XP SP1 and above:

There are a few possible answers to your question.

When you install Firefox, it will ask if you want it to be your default
browser. If you click yes, then any time you open a link in another
program, Firefox will launch. Also, during the install Firefox will load
in all of your current IE favorites. As such, you can make an almost
complete switch to Firefox. If you decide for the first trials to not set
Firefox as default, the instructions from Ramesh will help you change that
setting. There is also a setting in the Firefox configuration screens that
tells Firefox to check if it is the default browser. Select this and
restart Firefox and you will have another option to say Yes.

During routine browsing, there is an extension for Firefox titled IE View.
With this extension installed, you can right click any browser page in
Firefox and force it to open in IE. This makes it easy to switch from
Firefox to IE if you are having problems with a page.

There is a similar add-on for IE that you install through Firefox. You can
find it here (http://www.iosart.com/firefox/firefoxview/)

With these two extensions installed, it is quite easy to switch back and
forth between IE and Firefox on any particular web page.

With that said..is it possible to remove IE when I want to solely use AOL?
Main reason is for better Parent Control.

No, not really. For all intents and purposes, IE = Windows Explorer = a
fundamental part of the operating system. You can remove the IE icon from
the desktop and set other applications as your default browser, but I would
strongly recommend from going any further. There are some tools that claim
to remove IE from your computer completely, but as I mentioned, it is an
integral part of the operating system and should be left in tact.

If you do not want to have it used, you can lock it down so that everything
except Microsoft updates is in the restricted zone, effectively crippling
it.
