Suspected Damaged Installation Disk

After re-formatting, the XP operating system installation
failed. Several attempts were tried with the same results.
I suspect the disk has been damaged. I can not find any
information on how to get a replacement disk or even if
this is allowable. If someone would provide any
information regarding this damaged disk problem it would
be greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Usually failures to install a Microsoft operating system on a formatted
hard drive are attributable to bad hardware, with flaky RAM the first
suspect and a bad hard drive the second. Do a RAM test (I like
Memtest86) and let it run overnight (unless you get errors right away).
If the RAM is good, use a diagnostic utility from your hard drive mftr.
to test the drive.
