Suddenly IE6 stopped working

Suddenly, IE6 stopped working. Error is "Cannot find Server" whether
default home page is "msn" or "microsoft".

Before then, I have test driven a kind of proxy program. That could be the
problem. So I uninstalled the proxy program and also system restored to the
point of two weeks ago. IE6 still does not work. Maxthon (multi-tab
browser) based on IE6 did not work either.

But Mozella firefox and greenbrowser work without any hitch. But I hardly
used firefox and green browser. Except for ie6 and maxthon, my computer
(xp6/SP3) works perfectly. Please tell me how to trouble shoot for IE6.

Is IE still set to use a proxy under it's connection settings?

Idon't think so.
BTW, I have never used proxy before. I have no idea what is the status.
Could you please tell me whether IE was still set to use proxy?
That could be the problem. On other hand, even if IE was set to use Proxy,
how come IE refuses to connect to MSN server? Please enlighten me. Thanks.

Problem now solved.
I found that IE6 was proxy connected. After unchekcking, puter was
rebooted. Every thing returned to normal. Thanks. Craig
