IE6 fails to work after removing IE7

Hi,
I recently tried IE7 beta 2 preview, and realised that in fact I wanted my
IE6 back. I removed IE7 from add/remove programs, no problem. It told me to
restart my computer but I didn't (because usually you don't actually need
to).... but anyway IE6 didn't load. So I restarted my computer thinking if I
do what it says I'll be fine. Now IE6 opens, but as soon as I type an address
in, it opens AOL Explorer (my default web browser) at the correct page
instead... it does exactly the same when I set my default browser to IE6 too.
Occasionally, AOL Explorer (powered by IE) crashes and says something about
an "invalid token", and then proceeds to open 58 blank IE windows :S... I
just want to note also that before I even thought about installing IE7, IE6
and AOL Explorer were both working perfectly together, even with AOL Explorer
as the default.

Is there a way to reinstall IE6? Because downloading the latest IE6 from the
site doesn't work as I have a "newer version"...

That was a BIG mistake! In fact, you should have reboot twice. See
http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/archive/2006/03/21/87123.aspx

1. You click on a link and an IE window doesn't even open:

2. You click on a link and an IE window opens but it doesn't load: Try
re-registering all of the DLLs listed in this KB article...

3. Installing the latest Cumulative Patch for IE may solve the problem as a
side-affect. Check in at Windows Update.

Oops...

OK, I tried the regsvr32 commands and setting IE as default with the .reg
file and so on, and now IE will let me browse Google (my homepage). As soon
as I type an address however, it just freezes.

Fo you think installing IE7 again and then uninstalling it and actually
rebooting it would do anything?

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

Are now running IE7 Beta2 or IE6 SP1?
