Sudden failure

I reformatted my HD to XP home SP3 Used it for a few days and out of the blue
I got a flash blue screen and now I can't boot to safe mode. It hangs at
agp440.sys if it doesn't just keep restarting. I cannot boot from the ROM
either. It "loads everything but when it says "Starting Windows" nothing
happens.

With the computer powered off, disconnect (unplug from the computer) all
peripherals except for your monitor, keyboard and mouse. (Use a wired
keyboard and mouse to maximize your chances for success.) Boot to Safe
Mode and go to Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and
Recovery - Settings button > remove the checkmark from Automatically
Restart.

Now boot the PC normally and it will halt at a blue screen. Toward the
bottom of the Blue Screen you will see a hexadecimal number that begins
with 0x... Post back with the full hex number and the name of the error,
which looks LIKE_THIS.

Run a RAM test

The RAM test actually found the problem. The additional RAM I installed a
couple of years ago is apparently shot. I've never heard of this but as soon
as I know everything about computers, I'll let you know! I will try a new
module as I can't fathom the idea of running on 256MB!

Thanks!!!
