Success at last!

Hello all,

I finally have RC1 and XP dual installed and working fairly well. I thought
I'd share some of the things I've experienced along the way!

Read the instructions and read some of these threads as well! I did back up
all my files before beginning and this is not a critical use PC so it didn't
matter that I had to re-install XP 3 times, Beta 2 9 times and RC1 only twice!

Read threads...there is much good information in here...many good links, a
little attitude and knowledge! These threads let me know that even though I
hadn't gotten my e-mail I could still download and use RC1 using my Beta 2
key!

Be patient! Remember this is only Beta testing so don't expect it to be
perfect!

It's not the same! Of course not...why would you want an OS that looks and
works just like the other ones! I really love the latest version of
VISTA...faster, smarter and easy too...you just need to dismiss "the old way"
attitude and get creative!

Try...try...and try again! Unless your an expert, chances are that you won't
get it right the first time...I am considered a power user and there were
many things I didn't quite fully understand!

If at first you don't succeed...Point noted above with all those
re-installs...downloaded RC1 three times lost the first two to I/E 7 sandbox
thing and finally succeeded using the download manager from XP. Thankfully I
had read all the threads about burning ISO files so that was perfect...

Finally...if you don't have the time; don't taste the wine. Beta testing
takes many hours. If your in a hurry; wait for the final release...you'll be
glad you did!

Yey lol.

Well done!

However, I have dual boot (Xp/RC1) on my notebook and RC1 is running so well
I a very tempted to have it as my main OS, however cos my notebook is like
the main comp I use, I am very "in the balance" whether to over-write XP
lol. I usually always log on to Vista, and havent visted my XP HDD in quite
a while cos Vista is doing pretty well!

I agree Marc, I am very tempted myself. I only go into XP because the
drivers for my ATI card - Media Center TV are not useable yet with RC1; maybe
they will update them soon! That's the only reason I switch back and forth;
otherwise I am happily exploring Vista!

And...because I forgot in the original post....a BIG thank you to all you
testers who offered me input or advice...where would I be without you?
