RC2 Problems with Installation

I previously installed Beta 2, Pre RC1, RC1 and just download RC2. All were
installed on clean partition with dual boot with XP. Latest build would not
restart computer twice. At point it was supposed to reboot nothing happened
after several minutes. Finally powered down the computer and restarted an
finally installed. I have an ATI All in Wonder AGP 2006 edition. Prior
builds except Beta 2 gave me the option for Aero and worked fine. RC2
doesn't give the option.

The problem with Aero is a know issue... I'll just repost for you the fix
for it:

1) Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2) Restart DWM by opening a command prompt WITH ADMINISTRATIVE PRIVILEGES:

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

The Aero Fix works fine. It looks like Microsoft might have changed to the
DWORD value from RC1 to RC2. No way to know unless some can check it out if
they have still RC1 and RC2 installed and check the values.

Also still will not reboot or shutdown. When you do either the monitor shuts
off but the computer is still on an shows disk activity after several
minutes. Only fix so far is to power off. Hopefully this is fixed before
RTM.
