I just now recieved my copy of Vista RC1 in the mail (NOT DOWNLOAD) so I know
it's not corruption. It installs fine in VPC, but not on my physical
computer. I formated the Vista beta 2 partition and tried to install RC1 but
got a 0x800701E7 error complaning about install.wim or some file like that.
My Beta 2 DVD installed just fine on my physical computer and in VPC. RC1
will only install in VPC for some reason.

I've searched online and found many people with the same problem. They could
install Beta 2 but not RC1. All I can figure is it has something to do with

A) My HP LightScribe DVD player/burner
B) My SATA hardrive
C) My GeForce 6600 GT
D) Some other hardware problem

It's frustrating because Beta 2 had no problem with my hardware. I
reformatted the Vista Beta 2 partition and tried to install RC1 on it with no
luck. Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me?

Hello

I have a similar system, this below is how I went about getting the install
going.

I also had multiple failures with install using the DVD I burned, ended up
formating an PATA drive (could not get Via drivers to work for my SATA)
installed XP Pro SP2 on the drive updated it via windows update (did not
install any programs) then copied the Vista Install DVD to a folder on the XP
disk and installed it from XP using the folder copy of the install disk.

went in like a charm,

I was very frustrated as the DVD was checksumed ok and just stopped
installing for some reason.

very cumbersome way to install, BUT the key is it installed and is working
well

my "bi*ch" is that UAC is unweldy and makes my MS Outlook 2007 Beta not able
to use hyperlinks or update from the help menu. I am using administrator
privileges and still cannot get away from the

" The operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Pleas contact your system administrator"
