Subject: Odd Start Menu problem

So, at a first glance, the Start Menu seems to work perfectly fine. I
can open it, open submenus, drag-and-drop things, use right-click menus
on things...

The problem. Left-clicking. Absolutely nothing in my Start Menu will
actually -launch- when I left click on it... though it works if I right
click and select Open. Any ideas as to what might be going on?

This is usually caused by inappropriate NTFS permissions: The
account you use does not have the necessary rights to launch
the shortcut or the underlying application.

Huh. Now that's just weird, since I'm running an administrator
account...

That'll be a bit hard, given that this laptop is running XP Home. >o<
No, it is not.
- Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}
- Type these commands:
cacls "%AllUsersProfile%\Start Menu" > c:\test.txt {Enter}
notepad c:\test.txt {Enter{

Hmm. I've checked the permissions, and things seem to be normal
there... however, I've noticed that shortcuts in general aren't
working. So it looks like this may be another problem altogether.
