Stuck with one way networking from WindowsMe to WindowsXP

I have a Desktop PC running WindowsXP Home connected to a
Netgear wireless router via ethernet cable and the router
is connected to my cable modem. I have a Laptop PC running
WindowsME accessing the router via a Netgear 511 TypeII
card.

Both are able to access the internet via the router. Both
appear to recognize the Workgroup but only the WindowsMe
laptop allows me to access the shared folder on the
Desktop via Network Neighborhood. When I go to the
workgroup via My Network Places on the Desktop PC and
click on the laptop I am denied access with a message that
"\\Compaq is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Network path was not found."

If I am working on the laptop I am able to move files to
and from folders on the desktop pc but if I am working on
the desktop I can't even get into the laptop although it
is recognized as part of the workgroup.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Share something on the laptop. Do you have firewall
software running on either of them?

I found out the culprit was my Norton 2004 firewall
running on the laptop. When I disabled it the network
sharing worked fine. I called Symantec and they informed
me that they were just now circulating an email about how
their 2004 Internet Security software is running properly
on older laptops (such as mine) that came bundled with an
OEM version of Windows Me. I decided to pull the software
off the laptop and use it as an update on the desktop. Now
I just need to find a firewall for the laptop that will
work on this older system. Thanks for the suggestion.
