XP file sharing problem between desktop and wireless

I'm pulling my hair out trying to enable file sharing between my desktop and
my wireless laptop. Hopefully one of you network gurus can help.

My desktop is running XP home edition SP2. It's connected to a res gateway
via ethernet to my netgear router.
The laptop is running XP tablet SP2. It's connected to the res gateway via
wireless to the netgear router.

I've run the home network wizard. Both computers have the same workgroup
name and unique computer names. Both computers have IP addresses assigned by
the router. Both computers have file sharing enabled, and I've identified a
number of folders to be shared.

The desktop can see the laptop, but I get that frustrating "not accessable -
network path not found" message when I try to access it. The laptop is
completely unable to see the desktop, however I can ping the desktop IP.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

PoppaNovember

One other thing, I am running McAfee firewall on both computers. I've
disabled the Windows firewall, and I've configured the McAffee firewalls to
allow connections through the range of IP addresses that my router uses.

Hi
May be this can Help.
Read first the whole page (I.e. resist the urge to click on any of the
links).
Once you understand the general scope start to investigate the links that
concern your specific setting.

Read through the link that Jack suggested. I think I've narrowed down the
problem to some IP issue, but I'm not sure how to proceed next.

I installed NetBeui for file sharing, and got the wireless laptop to at
least "see" that the desktop was on the network. But then I was getting "an
unexpected network condition encountered".

This afternoon I tried connecting the laptop to the network router via
ethernet, and it worked like a charm. Both computers could see each other and
file sharing was a breeze. This was with NetBeui still enabled. I then
disabled NetBeui protocal to see if I could do the same via TCP/IP, and
Nothing!

Does this sound like some IP stack problem? Any suggestions on what to try
next? My goal is to file and printer share from my wireless notebook.

Thanks,
PN
