Stripping sound out

T

I'd like to try making a movie of my grandchildren without capturing
any sound, and then have them narrate what's going on in the editing
process. My camera (Sony HC21 HandyCam) doesn't seem to have a switch
to turn off so sound is not recorded.

I did try narrating over some clips, but the narration is muffled by
the extant sound on the clips.

Can sound be stripped from clips? If so, how?

I could try covering the microphone pick-up area on the camera, but I
thought I'd see if there's a better way.

right click the audio track associated with the video and 'Mute'. If you
don't see the audio track, expand the video track at the far left, using the
little plus sign.
