Video but no audio

I have a sony Digital 8 Handycam with USB streaming. I'm trying to capture
our family holiday with Movie Maker and then put it on to DVD. I have done
one before from this very camera with no problems. This time I'm having
problems with the sound. (There is none.) The video is capturing fine but not
the audio.

You can try the software FastCap at http://www.ejoystudio.com. FastCap
is for capture 3d games (both audio and video) and can also record
other video and pc screen. Just download and install the program. The
captur is easy to control-- just press the hotkeys. The program
requires nvidia or ati graphic card installed in your pc. You can read
their article on "How to set up my audio capture properties?" at
http://www.ejoystudio.com/fastcap article1010.html

Thanks Aquaw for your response but I was hoping to be able to fix the problem without having to purchase and download more programs. If I've been able to create a video before with both video and audio surley I can do it again.

When you have to select the video device and the audio device what audio
device are you choosing? Is the audio source set to mute? I use a Dazzle usb
converter but I still choose "microphone" for audio input.

Thank you 3KINGS. I had tried all different settings but on trying this one
again it worked. I think I have a tempramental program because I tested it
and it worked, tested it again and it didn't. I turned WMM off then on again
and it worked. Thanks again.

I have the same problem, have tried every audio device and it does not work
at all.
I hear a lot about Firewire, what is this exactly and where would I get one?

Most camcorders and many computers come
with IEEE 1394 FireWire Connections.

How FireWire Works
http://tinyurl.com/fdcwo

Check the specs for your computer and see
if you have a "FireWire (IEEE-1394)" connection.
(Sony calls it "i.LINK")

If your camcorder has the connection and your
computer does not......you would have to purchase
and install a PCI Firewire Card.

The following link is provided just as an example
....not as a recommendation.

FWIW...some users report that downloading
via FireWire solves the *no audio* issue...and
many still have problems.

And here is a link to the result of a search in
the Google Groups / Movie Maker archive for
*no audio*.

All I can say is Good Luck.....
