I have two WinXP Pro machines. One machine shows the contents of zip files
in a very long tooltip, whereas, the other machine ONLY shows a short
tooltip containing just the date and time of the file.

Is there anything I can do to make the tooltips on the second machine behave
like the first one?

Thanks.

The long tooltip sounds like the functionality that WinZip adds.
Do you have WinZip installed on one but not the other?

As John said. To view and compare the file type settings, you may use
FileExtInfo.

FileExtInfo - View the association settings for a file type easily:

Yep, that was it!
The second machine had an older version of WinZip installed.
After installing version 10.0 made the tooltips showed the zip contents.
Thanks
