Strange Things - Outlook 2002 on Vista

Hi,

Background: I am running Outlook 2002 on Vista. the software has been set
up only once but my wife and I access it under different profiles - the only
other difference is that we use different ISPs.

Problem: My wife's e-mail works perfectly. Mine doesn't. I have a variety
of problems and I'm thinking that they may be associated wit the fact that I
am syncing my PDA with Outlook:
1) My e-mails seem to alternate between not being sent and being sent
multiple times - next items may explain:
2) If I use an e-mail address via a contact, everything appears to be normal
(ie the e-mail ends up in the Sent Folder) but it is not actually sent.
However, if I actually type in the e-mail address (or reply to an e-mail)
everything (usually) works perfectly.
3) Given 2) above, sometimes (and I've only noticed this with e-mails that
have attachments) the e-mail get's stuck in the outbox. When this happens I
always get the message that the mail has not been sent - although, in
reality, it has been sent. Because it stays in the outbox it is sent again
every time I "send/receive" until I delete it from the outbox
4) I'm pretty sure that Outlook was working normally (but how would I know -
people don't complain that they didn't get an e-mail that they didn't know
you sent) until I started syncing my PDA, but I don't know how to totally
remove the sync partnership.
5) Of course I have the statutory Password problem, but now I know about it
- I'm over that. It helps me "not forget" my password anyway :O)

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks & Avagoodweekend (as they say in Oz)

Judging from your issues it sounds like you are running a virus scanner that
integrates with Outlook. Disable this integration and try again.

Many Thanks Roady - I certainly am (I'm running TREND 2007). I'll give it a
try over the weekend. It's a thing that I had thought of but had passed over
as my wife is not having any trouble. - Alan

The latest update.....

Killing TREND didn't fix the problem (although from history that doesn't
mean that it didn't cause the problem in the first place). I also found that
some of my associations had gone wrong too (eg. A zipped File couldn't find
the unzip program, clicking a URL (and similar things like registering
software) couldn't open IE.

What I did was open another account for myself (normal - not adminstrator)
and I now use that without issue. I now only use my Admin ACcount only for
admin tasks

That's good practice in any event.
