My logitech optical, wireless mouse died. Rec. a
replacement and in the process of installing the mouse,
the system went into a system check mode. The system
then acted like my 2 yr. old computer was brand new and
had not been used before. System set up and stuff.
Could not send/rec. e-mail. Could not access some
programs. Most important, Could not do a System Restore
Wizard. It did not recognize any date prior the
installation of the new mouse. Hardware is fine, it is a
software prob.
Has anybody else had this prob.?
Should I just go on from now or further investigation to
try to insist on a system restore?
Any help will be appreciated

I had a problem two days ago that was similar enough to be worth mentioning
to you. My Logitech optical cordless mouse suddenly started to malfunction.
The cursor would freeze on the screen. Nothing else locked up, but only a
reboot would free it. As I was in the processof trying to isolate the
problem, XP abruptly told me it needed to be re-authenticated because of
substantial changes in my hardware. I tried to use System Restore to roll
back newly updated video display drivers, and found that the oldest
available restore point was within the past hour.

The mouse continues to be a problem. I'm not using it now. The computer
seems to work ok with a corded optical mouse, and the cordless mouse seems
to work ok on another computer.

No recognized virus infects my machine. An update of the Logitech mouse
drivers didn't solve the problem. I've ruled out new sources of RF
interference with the cordless mouse, but I haven't ruled out a mouse
malfunction (except for the fact that the hardware works on another
computer).

If you learn anything about your problem, please post it here.

No answers but will chime in here. It was a while ago but also had trouble
with a Logitech wireless mouse. Normally this is my preferred brand but
due to various odd symptoms, I ditched the mouse and went back to using
a USB trackball of a different brand.

At the time, I suspected the Logitech software (iTouch? iFeel? iForget!) to
be at the root of the problem - especially since removing it immediately
made my troubles go away. May want to check for updated software and
look around at Logitech's online support area for more info.

I had the same problem on our new laptop and discovered it was a driver
incompatablilty and on further investigation (and experimenting) removed the
original mouse driver, just leaving the Radio mouse driver on it's own and
the problem had gone.
