Logitech Mouse Not Working Following Microsoft Update

Hello,

My boss performed the latest Microsoft Update Friday morning and when she
restarted her computer her Logitech Wireless Mouse would not work at all. I
tried my Logitech Wireless mouse on her system and it wouldn't work either.
So we know that the mice are not the issue. She plugged in a Dell mouse
which is working fine.

Although she is certain that she performed the latest Microsoft Update, I
reviewed all of her installed updates in "add or remove progams" and the
latest security update for windows on this list was installed on 06/11/2009
and Friday was 06/19/2009. So perhaps something went wrong in the process
when she attempted to install the update and perhaps the driver has been
corrupted? I'm not sure where I can find the driver.

Computer is on a network of 5 computers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sharon

What mouse model? Is there a reset button on the base of the mouse. Try
depressing it for say 10 seconds at the same time as you press the
transponder reset button.

Hope this helps.

You can find updated drivers at the Logitech website. Uninstall the update
and see if the mouse resumes working. You might want to let logitech know
that there is a problem with this update and their mouse driver.

Remove the receiver from the USB slot. Logitech Wireless mice
are USB 1 technology. Insert the receiver in a different socket on
the PC. It should re-enumerate or detect the HID Compliant unit
and then redetect the mouse itself.

Hi Sharon,

I also had problems with my wireless mouse and keyboard (MS Wireless Natural
Multimedia Keyboard and Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0) after the
Silverlight 3.0.40624.0 upgrade that was pushed to my computer yesterday
(July 22, 2009). The keyboard did not work at all at times, the mouse
pointer moved extremely sluggish, and the mouse buttons only worked about 1
out of 5 times.

I deinstalled the Silverlight update using Start -> Settings -> Control
Panel -> Add or Remove Programs (be sure to check the "Show updates" checkbox
on top of the dialog, and mouse and keyboard are back to normal.

Hope this helps,
oc
