Hi all,

Its a long story but bascically my pc crashed so i restarted, when i
restarted it kept on booting up, taking ages to do so, then it woul
cut very quickly to a blue screen and reboot. It would do thsi forever
I tried everything including safe mode etc but to no avail.

Finally i did a asr, automated system repair hoping this would solv
teh problem, it has in the sense it loads windows, but it has done
few straneg things firstly, i had to setup a new user, so my deskto
inst the same etc.... secondly all my progs are there but its asif non
have been installed, thirldy when i reboot the comp i have to choos
between 2 xp pro os' one that works and the other that doesnt.

The otehr probelm is when i drag a window around it is very ver
juddery/ refresh rate is bad.

But everything else is fine.

So my question to u pros is, how do i a.) remove the dual boot (in
drive it has 2 windows directories 1 is windows.0 and teh other i
windows.1) can i rename one of these? b.) restore my old user settings
c.) how do i make the effect when i drag a window smooth again?

Thanks all

Something else you forgot the full text of the Stop Error message.

Please post a copy of the Stop Error message.

I suggest you Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should
help by allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click
on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
StartUp and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Enable automatic restart on system failure after you have captured /
copied and pasted the message in a further post here.

There will also be Error Reports in Event Viewer. Please post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.
