Strange FP2003 behaviour

I am using FP2003 on a PC running Win XP home.

Recently I have noticed that when I open FP at the start of the day, files
that I had changed the previous day are now listed with a 'Modified Date' of
several months ago! [In case someone is tempted to ask whether I had saved
my changes, the answer is YES]

This has happened not once, but on several occasions. Also, a new page that
I had created yesterday (and published to my server) has now simply
disappeared from the local site on my PC - but the server still has the page
of course!

Could someone explain this strange behaviour and what can be done to fix it?

Thanks

1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
Also delete all IE Temp files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Open you online web (local) in FP and Publish all to your PC (remote) to get them synchronized
