FP2003 Publish performance slow...

I've been using FP versions for several years.

I have just changed to FP2003. I'm publishing (FTP) to a non FP
server. I have it set to publish ONLY changes with the option to
determine changes from my local web. And also publish Local to Remote
only.

In FP2002 if I changed one page on my local pc, then published, it was
VERY QUICK.

What I notice in FP2003 is that even with the options set above,
FP2003 appears to inspect ALL of the remote files attributes even
though I am not going to be using them as a basis. I see download
traffic to my pc for several minutes prior to the upload.

Any way for FP2003 to get smarter and faster in publishing ONE changed
local page (besides manually selecting which page/pages)?

Have you published All at least once after upgrading to FP2003, so FP (and your local *.web cache files) get updated / sync'd

Yes. The first time, FP 2003 insisted on publishing everything, which
took awhile. After that, back to normal except the slow prep stage.
Every time after that the log shows just the one file published, but
it sure takes a LONGGGGGGGGGGG time.

The only thing that appears strange is that on the left (local)
window-pane it shows all the files as "changed" is the status column.
It only ftp's the one file though.

Last time I watched the messages on the bottom left, and where there
is the pause is when it says "Listing pages in ftp://.....".

Now since I am publishing only changes from my local web, why would
FP2003 need to "list" or "download back" all the remote files? If I
did a full synchronize, I would agree, but not with my options.

It needs to check all files to determine what in not on sync
If you just have a few files right click them on local and publish individual files
Also if you web is very large consider breaking it up into subwebs (on the FTP end they will look just like folders) and publish
from subweb to subweb
