Strange Dialogue box

Bogey Man

Occasionally, after doing routine maintenance on my wife's Acer 5000 laptop,
there appears a dialogue box upon shutdown. This dialogue box doesn't have
anything in the title line but in the body of the box there is a yellow
triangle with the following text beside it.

"Monitor
Invalid License ID"

There is no other text and the computer works properly with XP SP2. There
doesn't appear to be a pattern to this except that it sometimes appears
after the maintenance schedule that consists of doing scans with CA Internet
Security Suite, and then a defrag.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's probably reported from some application. Can you check for your
applications that could have licence issues.

Hi Ron

There are quite a few Google hits for this and every one of them
involves an Acer machine :) Someone suggested it might be something to
do with Acer's "Empowering Technology", but nobody has come up with a
definitive answer. Probably the best thing you could do is contact them:

All of the programs are properly licensed but there is one that I can think
of that might be a culprit...

thank you. I hadn't considered that because of the infrequency of it but the
suggestion sure makes sense.

Thank you. I have contacted support from your hyperlink so now it is a
waiting game to see what they have to say.
