Strange audio playback of wmv video in Windows 2000

Hello,

I created a PowerPoint slide show in Windows XP using PowerPoint 2002,
but will be presenting it to my audience on a Windows 2000 computer. I
have embedded each of my 6 wmv videos using Insert > Object > Create
from file as per the recommendations from the msmvps.com/blogs
"Embedding Video" web site article. Both the video and sound now play
beautifully on the Windows XP machine.

However, when I run the slide show on the Windows 2000 computer, the
video plays perfectly, but the audio sounds like the narrator sucked
down some helium before reading the script ... you know, that high-
pitched, freaky sort of sound, like what you hear when a tape
recording is speeded up too fast. Is there some setting in Windows
2000 or PowerPoint 2002 that I need to change to return the video's
audio portion to it's perfect sound as it was in Windows XP?

Thanks for any advice.

I don't think it's a PowerPoint problem. The computer with PPT 2000 has
other hardware, other loudspeakers than the one with PPT 2002. Do the videos
sound normal if played with Windows Media Player? Can you try to attach
extra speakers to the computer?

Best regards,
Ute

Ute,
I have attached an extra set of external speakers to the Windows 2000
computer. When the 2002 PowerPoint presentation plays on the Windows
2000 machine, it uses Windows Media Player, and the audio does not
sound normal.
