Storyline won't play

Toby,
I reinstalled DX and SDK. Unfortunately the problem remains.
I realised another thing, If I right click on an MP3 I cant play the clip
because the menu is disabled.
I can preview images but when I drag one in the storyline, the window begins
to flicker and it doesnt work anymore.

Tell me if I can send you some information you need.

Thanks.

I tried your suggestion, unchecking the options and it seems to have solved
the problem...
Tks,

Batuke,
I'll need to get your DXDiag report for the system that is having all these
problems. Please follow the steps below and email it to me here at
Microsoft.
1.Choose Start Button then Run

2. Type dxdiag in the text box and press OK

3. A DXDiag window will pop up and have a small green progress bar in the
lower left, when progress bar is done analyzing your system (it disappears)
choose Save All Information button... and save to .txt file on your
harddrive

4. Attach the .txt file you saved in step 3. to an email and email it back
to me here at Microsoft (e-mail address removed)

Thanks
Toby Torgerson [MS]

Hello,

If turning down the acceleration works for you then there are a few
things you should know...

Assuming your card is capable in the first place....

1) You almost certainly do not have the latest drivers for you card that
have been made available by the manufacturer of the card. (Note that I say
Card and not Chipset)
2) If you turned the acceleration down one step you are now effectively
running a 486 computer and if by two clicks you are running a 386 computer
(with regards ability to display graphics that is) which means that
everything will run slower than it could on your machine
3) You may not be able to play DV-AVI at full screen resolution without
pauses and jumps in the video
4) You may not be able to play any games that use DirectX
5) Turning down the acceleration is meant to be a quick test, by gaining
success you took one small step towards the solution....you have not yet
reached the solution.

The solution is easy, update your drivers to the latest supplied by the
manufacturers of the card and the motherboard...DO NOT get these drivers
from Microsoft or NVidia etc etc...they are generic and most likely will
result in you needing to turn down the acceleration again....go to the
manufacturer of your equipment. When you have them install and then go get
the latest DirectX drivers from Microsoft...Microsoft make DirectX so they
are the people to go too...Install the latest drivers even if you had
installed them prior to turning down the acceleration.

Hello,

JPeg images are sometimes a problem, convert them to bitmaps (BMP) and
proceed from there.

john kelly's right. updating video adapter drivers fixed it and am now if
full hardware acceleration.
although I was able to get the working driver from Windows update. Probably
helps that I had an ATI card.
