stopping file sharing

hi. i used to have the instructions on how to stop file sharing. i think its a way for me to protect my computer files from others online. does anyone have the instructions? i think it has something to do in the control panel. thanks.

Network Connection> right click on internet/network connection involved and
select Properties. On the General Page, uncheck the box for File and
Printer Sharing.
