Stop: x0000145 Applicaton Error

S

Stewart

I am running windows XP. When i schedule a CHKDSK scan to follow the next
restart, when the computer restarts, I receive an Blue screen and an error
stating c0000145 <application error> and click OK to restart.

I am able to restart in safe mode but not with diagnostic startup (from
MSCONFIG)

I think it may be a corrupted CHKDSK.EXE file but Im not sure how to replace
it or diagnose it other than a Windows XP repair.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

In Safe Mode try to restore the system to an earlier date when things were
working okay!
Does it help?
If it doesn't you need to test the health of your Hard drive by running the
diagnostic tools on it and also test the RAM.
You may have a bad RAM try to test your RAM by running Memtest by
downloading this tool and unzip it and make a floppy or CD/DVD and run it on
Reboot.

You may need to reposition/reset the RAM sticks in their slots.
After that you could do a repair install, and then test.

It is not possible to identify the Error code from your post. Please
post a complete copy.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

Hope this helps.
