Dear all,

How to stop or disable the system default share folder C$
permanently, even restart the Windows XP and W2K
professional.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

There are a couple of articles that relate to removing the administrative
shares (the automatically created hidden shares) on both 2000 and XP. The
2000 article is at:
318751 HOW TO: Remove Administrative Shares in Windows 2000 or Windows NT
4.0
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=318751
and the XP article is at:
314984 HOW TO: Create and Delete Hidden or Administrative Shares on Client
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314984

Heed the warnings in the articles and make sure you know what you are
editing in the registry.
