Stop programs from autoloading

I have a few "extra" programs that load automatically on boot ((programs
like Pivot Pro, Quicktime, Roxio Drag-to-Disc, Sonic Cineplayer, WinZip
QuickPick, and others). that I would like to keep from loading and
populating my tray. I would like the equivalent fo MSCONFIG but that
program does not exist in Win2000, I don't believe.

I have looked in startup but there are no shortcuts for them there.
How do I find where it is that is sarting these programs to load so that
I can disable them at will?

Thanks

In most cases, with "well-mannered" applications, it's usually as
simple as opening the undesired program and deselecting the option to
"display icon in the system tray" or to "start when Windows starts."

Additionally, Look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up and C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up folders, and in the
system registry, primarily in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.

Bruce,

If I use the registry, do I just erase the whole key in, for example,
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run?

Thanks

No, you'd want to delete only the undesired value in the right pane,
when you have the Run key high-lighted.

Rather than trying to edit the registry,
This program does that http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

Unzip the files and place them in your system path
