Stopping programs from startingon bootup

When my notebook is running there are several programs that I can see
running in the systray. I use them only occasionally, such as InstallShield
Manager, QuickTime and eFax. If I need any of these I can always click and
start them up. Are there settings somewhere that will let me keep them from
starting automatically? thanks!

Try downloading autoruns. Its one of several pretty good startup tools.

Greetings Joe,

You can also click on Start>Run> msconfig>startup, uncheck the ones you do
not want. One other thought is Windows Defender, it offers Software Explorer
which enables one to enable, disable or remove startup programs.

Good Luck!
